Why My Massage Clinic Works Well for Clients
The clinic provides a quiet, private setting with flexible treatment options. Techniques such as hot stones, cupping, and deep tissue can be combined when clinically appropriate.
Each session adapts to your goals, comfort, and how your body responds. Learn more about my RMT background or contact me if you have questions.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage, also known as Classic Massage, is a traditional modality and the foundation for many other massage techniques.
It is characterized by a slow pace, light to medium pressure, and long, flowing strokes that typically cover larger areas of the body. The main techniques include effleurage, stroking movements, and various forms of petrissage. Light tapotement and vibration may also be included depending on the session.
Swedish massage is commonly recommended for stress, anxiety, fatigue, headaches, and mild muscle tension.
Its versatility and gentle to moderate intensity make it a popular choice for first-time clients or those seeking a general relaxation-focused treatment.
Hot Stone Massage
Enhances relaxation / Vivid sensations / No extra cost
Hot stone massage is a modality that uses heated smooth basalt stones integrated into the session. It adds deep warmth and helps muscles relax more effectively during the treatment.
The stones are basaltic, sized approximately 8×5×3 cm (3×2×1 inches), and heated to 47–57°C (120–135°F). They are applied directly to the skin, transferring gentle heat into the soft tissues and helping reduce local muscle tension.
Hot stone treatment can be performed in two ways. Stones may be placed statically on specific areas, or moved dynamically across the body. This combination of heat and movement creates distinct sensory experiences and makes the tissues more responsive to manual work.
Clients often enjoy hot stone for its deeply relaxing effect and the unique warmth that helps ease tight muscles. It works particularly well when combined with Swedish or deep tissue techniques.
Hot stone massage is not suitable during pregnancy, with active inflammation, fever, or significant cardiovascular conditions.
Deep Tissue Massage
Goal-oriented focus / Firm pressure / No added fee
Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique that targets deeper layers of muscles and soft tissues to address chronic tightness and tension.
The technique uses firm pressure applied with forearms, elbows, and knuckles, and occasionally specialized tools. This allows for more effective work on deeper muscle areas compared to lighter styles.
Deep tissue work is usually combined with classic Swedish massage. Pure deep tissue work throughout the entire session often leads to excessive soreness afterward, which is why I prefer blending both approaches for better results and client comfort.
Many clients specifically request deep tissue techniques even during relaxing sessions because they produce distinct sensations and deliver noticeable relief in tight areas.
Static and Dynamic Cupping
Cupping is a technique that uses special cups to create suction on the skin. This method has been used for centuries and remains popular for those seeking a different kind of bodywork.
The mechanism is simple: the cups create a vacuum that gently lifts the skin and soft tissues, increasing local blood flow and producing a mild stretching sensation in the muscles.
Static cupping involves placing the cups on specific areas and leaving them in position for several minutes. This focused approach works well for targeting tight spots.
Dynamic cupping moves the cups smoothly across the skin with the help of oil. This technique covers larger areas and gives a more flowing sensation during the session.
Cupping can be used to complement regular massage sessions when clients want to address muscle tightness or simply experience a different technique. It can be effectively integrated with other techniques depending on treatment goals.
Cupping is not suitable for everyone. Avoid this treatment if you have active skin conditions, open wounds, severe varicose veins, bleeding disorders, or if you are pregnant. Always check with your doctor if you have any medical concerns.
Orthopedic Assessment
Initial check before treatment / Essential for therapeutic massage
Orthopedic assessment is a detailed diagnostic process used to identify the root cause of pain, movement limitations, and musculoskeletal issues. It helps me understand the exact mechanism of the problem and determine the best approach for the session.
The assessment is performed through a series of muscle tests, range of motion checks, and specific orthopedic tests. I evaluate bending and straightening of the limbs, neck, and torso, combined with careful observation and client history questions.
Time for orthopedic assessment is included in the overall session. Depending on the case, it usually takes between 10 and 40 minutes. If needed, I can allocate extra time or shorten the assessment to leave more room for hands-on work.
Facial Massage
Enhances full-body session / Skin and stress relief
Facial massage is a gentle treatment that focuses on the face, neck, and shoulders. It works well as a complement to your full-body session.
The technique applies light rhythmic strokes and soft pressure. This stimulates circulation and relaxes facial muscles.
Facial massage can be added for 15–30 minutes to your main session. Standard duration comes at no extra charge, while longer sessions may incur a fee.
This service is suitable when you want to relieve facial tightness. I recommend discussing time allocation when booking.
Facial massage should be avoided with active skin infections, open wounds, recent facial procedures, or severe skin conditions.
Full Body Scrub
Clean your skin / Make skin smooth / Extra fee
Full body scrub is a 25–30 minute service performed together with a 60 or 90 minute massage as one complete session.
The procedure starts with the client lying on the table. The scrub is applied and thoroughly rubbed over the body. The client then gets up and goes to the shower to wash off the scrub completely. While the client is showering, I change the sheets. After the shower, the client returns to the table and the session continues with the massage.
Effects of the full body scrub include deep exfoliation. Clients usually notice an immediate difference — the skin feels smoother and softer.
This service requires advance booking and an additional fee.
Full body scrub should be avoided with active skin infections, open wounds, severe skin conditions, or recent sunburn.
